Beat the burnout and take your power back through meticulous rest, relaxation and release, centred around yin and yang yoga. Switch off the stress and reclaim your health and your life.

From a place of peace, create the space to thrive. You deserve it!

This unique and authentic experience is for you if you feel like life is passing you by; consequently, there are questions and concerns you have but simply no space for you to process and find clarity. You will learn how to integrate the mind, body and spirit to calm the nervous system, catalysing healing and peace.

Emotional release is an intrinsic aspect of yin yoga. Recharge your batteries, rest and rejuvenate in a stunning natural environment.

On your Chiang Mai yoga retreat, time lingers and stretches luxuriously over the ten days, as I move you towards empowerment, so that you can overcome your life’s challenges.

Press pause, breathe.

Reconnect with your life on your return in the afterglow of your healing, restorative Thailand experience, while knowing yourself better and feeling the resilience, restoration and connection that you have allowed and embraced during your Chiang Mai yoga retreat. You will be motivated and consequently inspired, with a clearer path ahead.

Chiang Mai for those who have yet to experience it, is idyllically charming, one of the most stunning locations on earth. You will be staying in a beautiful and exclusive six bedroom property with a large private swimming pool, along the Ping River, nestled amongst lush gardens in a quiet and peaceful residential area called Mai Rim. This part of Northern Thailand is largely undiscovered with very few foreign tourists, yet easily accessible to the city in just fifteen minutes.

About Dr. Amanda Bowen

Chiang Mai
Amanda in Chiang Mai, near the night market

Being diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome then complex PTSD, depression and anxiety fifteen years ago left me unable to function. I led myself down the holistic route to get my health and, ultimately, my life back, and along the way stepped into my role as a teacher and wellness guide centred around yin yoga and stress management.

I love sharing my practice with others. This powerful journey has so far involved over six hundred hours of Yoga Alliance teacher training and I won’t stop there! I just love learning, it’s my new addiction!

I’ve studied and trained in hatha, ashtanga, vinyasa, aerial, yin, yin yang, acu-yin, yoga for trauma recovery and recently added restorative and yoga nidra.

I discovered yin yoga on my very first teacher training course in India.

Why haven’t I found this sooner? We find what we need when the time is right.

Yin is where my healing was ignited and kick-started into gear! It’s why I had to delve deeper with the advanced yin yoga teacher training and then acu-yin. The common thread through all my yoga teachings is to switch off the stress.

The key to happiness
The key to happiness

Whilst being treated for complex PTSD, I developed a fascination with how the human brain works. What my consultant shared with me about my brain was incredible, and I needed to know more so I dived right in there into the world of metaphysics! This then led me into gaining my PhD in Metaphysical Science. Isn’t it just mind-blowing how things turn out?! I never imagined I’d be able to use my brain, and heal my body and mind, to the extent that I have.

The intensity and depth of my yoga training and academic studying and the way in which they come together in my sessions have created my unique style of teaching yoga.

Postures, nurture and calm are combined with the brain science behind the practice and meticulous preparation, bringing wisdom and learning from many different sources into each session, hence, MindScienceYoga, made simple.

Education and inspiration is woven into my teachings and comes from my own personal experiences, providing the essential knowledge for healthy stress management. When we assign meaning to what we do we get better results. And that, my friend, is a scientific fact, according to one of my fave docs, Dr. Joe Dispenza.

Allow me to teach you how you can bring balance, stillness and healing to help you to overcome life’s challenges so that you can enjoy the life you deserve, full of health, peace, happiness and joy. Isn’t that what we all want?!

About Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a meditative, healing form of yoga, which works on a deeper level into the connective tissues and organs, lubricating the body and releasing toxins and negative emotions. It invites you to enter a space of stillness, whilst combining the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and ancient Indian wisdom.

It restores, balances and enhances the energy flow throughout the body, interconnecting every tissue and organ, through invisible pathways, removing blockages, the precursors to illnesses. This works like acupuncture but without the needles!

Each organ has many energetic components that affect us physically, emotionally and mentally. Our bodies carry a record of all our experiences in our lifetime and all experiences carry an emotional charge.

Over the years any trauma, bad relationships, betrayals, stressful jobs and grief can actually affect our physiology. As a result, they can break down the immune system, leading to illness and disease. It’s really important to stay with this practice to help to release all the emotional baggage that we have been carrying around for so long. You will feel so much lighter and brighter.

The Elephant Day

Who doesn’t love elephants? Here are some amazing photos from our day out meeting the elephants at our last Chiang Mai Retreat! We are excited to be visiting them again!

Testimonials

“I went to Chiang Mai on Amanda’s retreat in January 2019. The whole experience was wonderful!
Luxury and serene accommodation and location, well planned active flow and restorative yin yoga classes twice a day overlooking the beautiful gardens or on the terrace, gorgeous food, lovely pool area and relaxing Thai massages.

Trips to temples, monk’s houses, local restaurants, cafes up mountains, flower and umbrella markets and to meet and trek with elephants close up and personal plus more! Most importantly remote places without tourists.

Reliable transport all arranged and fabulous hosts that made sure everything was perfect.
It really was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on and absolutely the best yoga retreat. Amanda’s philosophy and passion for yoga and mindfulness will change your life. I would definitely recommend to everyone and as I love her teachings so much I’ve also attended Amanda’s retreats in Ibiza and Goa. Both Fantastic! She really does go the extra mile to ensure that you get the most out of your retreat experience, whilst also making a very good friend too! “

“Knowing Amanda (Mandy) for a while, and doing lots of her yoga classes. I decided to book onto the Chiang Mai yoga retreat.  It was beyond my expectations.  The place was amazing, the hosts treated us like family and nothing was too much trouble the place was spot on very peaceful and tranquil and took my breath away.

Mandy is a lovely caring person and looked after us.  Her classes are very rewarding and everything is explained in detail.  Her attention to detail is remarkable, and she goes that extra mile. I came back from this experience a lot better, having been at a low point in my life, renewed invigorated and a lot more positive.

I will treasure these memories forever and often think back to that time when I am feeling low and it makes me happy. I would highly recommend Amanda’s classes and Retreats.  I am really looking forward to her next retreat in Santorini which I have booked.”
